Well, I’m back, and hopefully will be more often than before.

For those of you just joining the charlesredell.com show, I used to use blogger for my site which was all well and good, but after a year and some months, I had grown a little frustrated with the interface and the limitations on that system. So I went to my favorite blogger and asked her about what she was going to use when she switched from a blogger account. Bethany’s not yet sure but suggested I look into Typepad and WordPress. Typepad came reccomended by Cellar Dwellar (though I see she’s moved into an upstairs apartment!) and so I thought it would be cool. But you gotta pay for that and I’m a cheapo!

So WordPress, here I am. Upon installation, I immediately fell in love. Upon tweaking the design template, I felt like we could have ourselves a pretty stable long-term relationship (though I thought we may need some couples therapy at some point). While trying to import all of my blogger archives, the honeymoon ended and I thought we might have to break up or at least take some space from each other.

I decided I’d ignore that problem however, once the script I ran to import it all worked well enough to get all the posts over, but made it so no design was present on my site. I don’t blame the guy who wrote the thing, he’s been really helpful with other issues I was having, but something did go wrong somewhere so I decided I wanted to delete all of those posts and just start from blank (for now).

Welcome to playing with MySQL (a database for those not in the know which I was yesterday).! That was fun. Really. No. It was. Ok. No it wasn’t, but I did figure it out and got my blog to work again! Joy!

So, now that I have this new way to post, and I have many more electronic toys to play with, I am really going to try and do it more often…. and hopefully, someday, I’ll get all those old posts back up on the site and let all my new readers (I’m actually going to tell people I know about the site now) catch up on all my ramblings.
