Flash Mob Pillow Fight
Today in Ballard there was a flash mob pillow fight. The plan was for a whistle to blow at 2:22 pm and for people to pull their pillows out and start swinging. After a few minutes, the whistle was going to blow again and people would walk away like nothing had happened. Although it started as planned, somewhere in the middle of the scrum, a feather pillow burst and when the whistle blew a second time, there was no acting like nothing had just happened. Feathers were everywhere:
During the fight was a ton of fun though it lasted a long time and got tiring. I know how wimpy that sounds, but you try swinging a pillow for 5 minutes while also being attacked from all sides by 50 other people wielding pillows. It’s a lot of work.
This is my favorite picture. Note the people on the right side.
Then there’s what it looked like from within the fight:
But a pillow fight with 50 people is not static or easy to comprehend like that. So I took some video while fighting too:

Thanks for the video and pics! I spaced going to the event, even though I was 2 blocks away, so it’s great to have all the coverage!

Here’s a related video for you re: pillow fights. Of course, it’s, like, 6 mins. into the clip here, but hey, you can make it! Enjoy!

I can’t believe I didn’t see this post – I love all of the fabulous group experiences that are happening all over recently -
“Improv Everywhere” freezing in Grand Central and creating a sudden musical in LA (those were more performance-y) but there have been two silent raves in NYC in two weeks – (where people wear their own tunes and dance)
I love the video – all the laughter and shrieks are hilarious!
I wonder if NY could handle a pillow fight?
