i know lots of people who worked really, really hard to fight prop 8 by making calls & knocking on doors but, as zeke said, it was too little too late. i don’t know why hollywood didn’t put more money into fighting it. probably because most people didn’t think it would actually pass. you’re right that viral web videos don’t do much to sway a court’s opinion but they can influence voters if they’re powerful enough. i’m hoping the court will see all the problems with prop 8 and shoot it down.

that is totally true. I've heard the same thing: that the anti-prop 8 forces didn't believe that anyone would vote for it and effectively lost by not playing. This video might be too little, too late for that fight, but the argument continues from what I hear. Apparently, the CA supreme court is re-looking at Prop 8. (PDF) So there is hope. Of course, viral web videos don't do much to sway a court's opinion. But still, NPH is pretty rad, you gotta admit.

very funny, but honestly, wouldn’t the time to come out with that have been BEFORE the vote? From what I’ve read there was almost no organized opposition to Prop 8, which is a big reason it passed. It’s great they did this, but it’s hard not to think “too little, too late”
