Charles Redell Lays out a Case Against Fixies – Seattlest: Seattle News, Food, Arts & Events
I haven’t written for Seattlest in a long time. My work days are just too busy. But an incident Sunday prompted me to send a missive he turned into an Op-Ed called Charles Redell Lays out a Case Against Fixies:
…when a bike rider ran into my car on Sunday, it was particularly disturbing. It also made me think about how the accident could have been avoided.
Check it out and let me know what you think, either here, or there.

I hope it was my ex and he rode away somewhat disfigured.
No, just kidding.
Or am I?

I bought a 48×16 geared fixie to break me of a bad habit – coasting. I also ride several thousand mile per year in the hilly part of North Idaho and race at an amateur level. Dipshits like this give the rest of us serious riders a bad name. Oh yeah, I have a hand brake installed for my own safety.

AV, Thanks for the comment. I appreciate that fixie riders don’t want to coast, or like the look of their bikes, or find them easier to maintain, or whatever. If you want to ride one, more power to ya. Just do it responsibly, like you do.
Thanks for the support.
Vanessa, it wasn’t him. But for you, I wish it were. Sorry.
